22 mars 2010

The last round of the Florida Winter Tour took place last weekend in Ocala, Florida. The champion of each class was crowned on Sunday night and at the same time, told us who will be the driver qualified for the next Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals in Rotax DD2, DD2 Masters, Rotax Max and Rotax Max junior classes.

Before this last round, Canadian driver Daniel Morad was in good position to win the championship in the Rotax DD2 class. He confirmed his title with the win on Saturday and Sunday. Morad is now qualified for the 2010 RMCGF. This will be his second participation at the RMCGF in a row.

In the Rotax Max class, the battle was close between few competitors and one of them was Canadian driver Pier-Luc Ouellette. The drivers to beat this weekend were the two championship leader Daniel Formal and Kenneth Hildebrand. Amongst them, Ouellette got the best weekend, including a win on Saturday, to take the title and qualify for the fourth time for the RMCGF. As a reminder, Ouellette got the world title in 2007 in the United Arab Emirates in the DD2 class and finished second in 2008 in Italy. In 2010, he will be at his first participation at the RMCGF in the Rotax Max class.

We must underline the performance of another Canadian driver, Lance Stroll, who won the title in the Rotax Micro-Max class.

With the qualification of Morad and Ouellette for the world finals, this confirm that at least 13 drivers will represent Canada at the 2010 RMCGF. The location and date of the 2010 RMCGF will be confirmed soon.
