RMC: A DD2 Masters class at the world finals
11 mars 2010

It is confirmed, the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals will host a new separate class at the 2010 world finals: the DD2 Masters class. This class is the same as the normal DD2 class but the competitor must have his 32nd birthday during the current year and the minimum weight is set at 180 kg (396 lbs).

This new class was confirmed at the last version of the 2010 RMC regulations however we decided to wait until confirmation of the seats available for the Canadian competitors before sending this official release. Two seats are reserved for Canadian competitors. One of them will be of course the National Champion of the DD2 Masters class and the winner of the DD2 Masters class of the Western Rotax Max Challenge.

"In the last years, we put pressure on BRP-Rotax to have this class at the Grand Finals. The problem for them was not to recognise the demand for this class but solving the logistics problems related to the addition of a complete class in the schedule and 34 additional drivers. We are very happy that the DD2 Masters class is now a reality. Of course, we would like to have three drivers invited but considering the total number of drivers is only 34, having two invitations is satisfactory. Obviously, the National champion will be one of them, as well as the champion of the Western series where there is a huge contingent of DD2 Masters drivers, perhaps the biggest group in the world in the same area, has been running since 2003. With a higher weight, many of them will now be able to take part at the Western Series" said Patrick Moreau, national manager of the RMC.

With the new class at the Rotax Max Challenge Grand Finals, this will raise the number of competitors at 250, including at least 11 Canadian drivers.
